Le Grazie is a seaside hamlet of the municipality of Porto Venere, and has always taken part in the inter-district of the Gulf.The port, of modest dimension , at one time was a fishing boat yard. It has been nominated ''La città dei Palombari'' for years and is also the site of numerous Portora marble quarries. ( More Less )
The village was born in one of the two arcs of the western coast of the Gulf of La Spezia. Originally from Porto Venere ,the former is called the Cala dell’oliva and the latter gets its name from the monastary of the olivetani monks, the chapel of Nostra Signora delle Grazie(Our lady of Grace), where famous wine is produced.
The bastion of Varignano on the Cape of Grazie is the headquarters of the Gruppo Operativo Subacquei.(Diver Group Operations)
The Roman villa of Varignano is of great archeological importance, it is situated in the bay of Grazie in the foothills of Muzzerone hill.
