Garlenda is an charming village set in the vast area of the Val Lerrone. In 1594 Garlenda went to the Counts of Costa, from Albenga, who built the new castle and donated important works of art coming from Rome to the parish church. From 1717 the new seigniors were the Del Carrettos of Balestrino, and subsequently the Savoys with the annexation to the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1735.
The 17th century parish church of the Nativity is very interesting with its octagonal dome and Baroque form bell tower.
The position, the large fields and numerous sporting facilities, like the horse riding school, the skating rink and the golf course, all make Garlenda a famous holiday resort.
The famous Golf Club, which opened in 1965 has an 18 hole green with a charming artificial pond . The course was designed by the English architect Harris and also houses international events. For all those who love the Fiat 500, there is the Multimedia Museum managed by Club Italia-Fiat 500 and, in July, an international rally takes place with the participation of Fiat 500’s from european and non-european countries .
