Diano Marina, which is situated on the coast and along the via Aurelia, is the main seaside resort of the area, while a succession of terraced olive trees and the scent of the varied mediteranean vegetation offer a very mild climate as in all of western Liguria.The Benedictine brothers from Piedmont introduced olive farming in the XI century.
To discover the natural spots and fully enjoy the soft beauty of a Liguria half-way between the hills and the sea, in the nearby hinterland, lying on a dominating hill are Diano Castello and the historic hamlets of Diano San Pietro, Diano Arentino e Diano Evigno; all with renowned ancient churches, dating back in time from XI to XVII centuries rich in works of art and so of great interest to lovers of art.
An absolute historic and archiectural jewel sheltered on a strategic spur, Cervo is the heart of the Dianese Gulf, just above the sea: a breathtaking view of the entire area,it is the perfect appealing setting of the warm summer evenings, when it becomes a natural stage for the renowned Chamber Music Festival. Among the other villages of the Gulf we must not forget San Bartolomeo al Mare, a quiet seaside resort along the coast and the characteristic medieval hamlet of Villa Faraldi.
